Building a Reputation Through Referrals

Building a Reputation Through Referrals

One of the most telling indicators of a company’s success is the number of referrals it receives. Over the years, SGE Solar has built a strong reputation in the Massachusetts community, with many clients recommending their services to friends and family. This word-of-mouth marketing speaks volumes about the trust customers place in Second Generation Energy to handle their solar needs.

Below is just a few of many reviews we received over the years.

“Don’t even think about a national or large regional solar company”

Dave and SGE were fantastic. Their price could not be beat, and I can’t imagine anyone else providing better customer service or installation experience. -Amit C.

“Benefits of the sun”

I decided on SGE after reviewing comparisons on energysage. What I most liked about them was their follow up after providing an estimate for my home. They were very conservative with the production of the system as a few promised me incredible results. After being contacted by Doug Wahl, a tremendous asset to SGE, we set up a site visit. He did all the calculations on site and went back to the office to run them thru the system. Much to my delight we doubled the productivity that they originally estimated. With limited roof space I’m confident that a few other proposals would not have come close to what they stated as possible benefits from the sun. The installation process was also seamless. It was done professionally and not a typical one day in and out without the necessary inspections along the way which the larger companies tend to operate in that fashion. A great install team led by Craig made sure we taken care of most professionally. Doug was with us from start to finish which is a tremendous plus seeing that most salespeople disappear after closing the deal. In the end with the system up and running and near zero cost monthly to Eversource we were provided with a system designed with some of the most efficient panels and equipment on the market. Well worth every dollar spent. If you don’t feel they’re providing you with enough solar benefits compared to other bids on energysage do yourself the favor of setting up a site visit. They’re honest, reliable and do not disappoint!!   – Stuart M.

“SGE Solar overcame challenges to successfully complete the project”

Our overall experience with Second Generation Energy (SGE Solar) as an installer was very good. They worked very hard to achieve a successful installation. A particular challenge occurred in the rack system that was initially installed, it turned out to be defective. The SGE Solar team carefully assessed the situation, even bringing in a representative from the rack manufacturer. In the end, they used a different manufacturer’s racks. They stood behind their commitment to complete satisfaction and delivered within the budget. Our system was installed in 2023 and involved solar plus battery storage. The battery system once completed, has worked beautifully. However, anyone considering battery storage should be aware that the electrical and fire inspections associated with battery projects are more complicated. In our case, the local inspectors clearly did not have a lot of experience to draw on and at times we received conflicting guidance from local authorities. Again, Second Generation did a good job with the installation and they adjusted to those changes when they came up without additional cost. With a year of operation completed, I can state that the project is meeting our goals and the design estimates. – Mark H.

“Slate roof installation”

I used EnergySage to help me find and evaluate an installer to work on my slate roof. They were very helpful in every step of the process, and I was glad to have them as a technical resource when deciding who to use, and how the installation would be done. I was very satisfied with the whole process, and as someone who works in the energy field, I am happy to recommend EnergySage to anyone considering adding solar panels. – Ruth S.

“SGE proved to be a good choice for our solar project”

We installed a 12kw system on our home back in Feb 2023. SGE/Steve was upfront about the general timeline and potential delays (from the utility company, inspector, etc.) that could pop up along the way. I would say expectations were set realistically, and they delivered within the timeframe they gave us. Steve was our rep and he is SUPER knowledgeable on all things Solar. Compared to the many other companies we vetted, he was responsive and went through things at a good pace. The installers they contracted with were fantastic (Craig & Skizz). They left the job site clean each day. Like most home projects, there were some hiccups, but unlike most home projects it was easy to work through them with SGE. I’ve recommended them many times over and would use them again if I had to go back and do it all over again.  – Chip A.

“Great Team”

Overall, using SGE was a great experience. The sales contact, Dave Simmer, was extremely thorough and walked me through the whole process. I never felt too rushed, except for securing the loan from UMASSFive, but that’s unrelated to SGE. Things happened quickly once National Grid approved everything, and SGE was ready to go within a week! The electrician/installer was phenomenal too. He worked with me on layout of equipment and even helped improve my electric panel to make sure everything was safe. Definitely recommend Pat for anything! As mentioned, communication about the loan was not as great, but that seemed to be independent of SGE. After everything was installed, I did lose a little bit of contact with them. There was an issue with the app (not the panels), and it took a bit to get corrected, but in the end it was fixed and I have had no issues since! They were always honest about pricing too and adjusted the quote when it turned out an extra panel wasn’t needed.  – Jadler T.

“Love having a Solar System”

We contacted several vendors and SGE’s response was great and the best. Doug Wahl spent multiple sessions with us figuring out how to get a 10kW system on our oddly configured roofs without a lot of panels showing on the street side yet still producing what our annual consumption has been. Doug was knowledgeable and worked through several iterations of the layout. Installation went well. There were delays but they were not SGE’s fault; long permitting process, back-ordered panels, and one other something I can’t remember. Doug was also great helping me get status and other information during installation. The system has been running for 9 months, electric bills have been $0 and we’ve built up a good kwh credit. Now we’re headed into the winter and I’m dying to see if the credit carries us through the lower production time. Shoulda done this years ago. – H
